trip around the world quilt
The front is made from t-shirt fabric. Because of the stretch of the knit fabric, I "tied" it using a large X stitch on my sewing machine in every other block. It's very soft and cozy!

custom made tshirt quilt
A grid-layout t-shirt quilt... 40 shirts, 5x8 grid. Some blocks needed to be cut to smaller sizes to fit them all in. I used tshirt pieces for the cornerstones to add some fun pops of color to the black sashing.
It's quilted with the Meander Squared pattern.

free pattern download
Right now on the Hancock's of Paducah website, you can download this pattern for free. It's called Fine China, and looks like a fun pattern. I've included a link to the pattern.
Happy quilting!

Prewashing your fabric
I recommend pre-washing your backing fabric to reduce shrinkage in your quilt and to remove any excess dyes in the fabric.
I just purchased a piece of flannel for the backing of a baby quilt, and it measured 63 5/8 x 43 1/2 before washing, and after washing & drying on low heat it measured 60 1/2 x 42. That's 3" lost through shrink on the length (parallel to the selvedges)... flannel would probably shrink more than regular quilting cotton, but that's not a given either, depending on the brand of fabric.

Amazing triangle quilt
Lots of little triangles on this one! She pressed the seams open to reduce the bulk where the triangles meet. 👍
