If you're struggling to get your borders to lay flat, here is how to avoid that.
Do not just take a border strip & start sewing it on. Often the edge of body of the quilt has quite a few seams and bias edges, and it can stretch. If you just add borders without measuring, you'll get extra fabric in the borders, and they will not lay flat.
Measure through the center of the quilt, and cut the borders to that length. You can measure with a tape measure, or save time & just lay the border strip across the center of your quilt & cut at the same length as the quilt center.
Then, using quite a few pins, secure your border strip to the outside edge of the quilt, easing in any extra fabric that may be along the edge of the quilt.
